Who We Are
The project believes in helping vulnerable children holistically under firm Christian teachings.
St Steven’s Children’s Home is a charitable children’s organization that was established in 2002 with the Ministry of Gender, sports, and Social Services registration No. 264/2002.
In the year 2006, the home was registered with the House of the Attorney General under the Society’s rule 1968 registration No. 26075. Later in the year 2007, it was registered with the Children’s Department under the ‘Ministry of Home Affairs, registration No. 0003009.
The project is named in memory of the late Steven Madaus, son to pastor Chuck Madaus from the Bible Baptist Temple, West Virginia ( who died at birth) in Kenya while his father served in Kenya at Mount Kenya Bible Baptist and Timau Baptist
Project Foundation
The home is an initiative of Bishop Esther K. Mwiti, a reared nurse/ nutritionist and a born-again Christian. She founded the home after surviving a kidney operation as a way of serving God who healed her.

Location
The project is located in Timau, a small dusty and windy township, 215 kilometers north of Nairobi (Kenya’s Capital) on the leeward side of Mt. Kenya, 18 Kilometres north of the equator. Located on the leeward side of Mt. Kenya, Timau receives unreliable rainfall which has led to increased poverty levels among the inhabitants hence the vulnerability of the kids.
